"You Believe in Love" hits #1

We are so grateful to the kind people who have voted for us on the OutVoice GLBT Top Ten Song Chart! This month our song, "You Believe in Love" made it #1 and we couldn't be happier! You can see our new video for it on the homepage. Thanks everyone!

YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE - The Video!

We have just released our official music video for "You Believe In Love" and the reaction has been amazing! It's a cute, quirky send up on Romantic Comedies (Which is literally the only type of movie Tully will watch) with 2 gorgeous gay friends of ours in the lead roles. We are very grateful to have the talents of Dave Deveau and Cameron Mackenzie from the Zee Zee Theatre Company in this video. We had a lot of fun, as you can tell by a few of the outtakes we saved for the end. We hope it makes you smile!

BOLDFest and Cris Williamson

We had an amazing time playing the 10th Anniversary of BOLDFest in Vancouver last weekend! The audience of fabulous women sent us so much love back to that stage that we are still flying!

Our good friend and guitar player, Rona Goodman joined us for the last half of the set and she rocked it. We didn't know until the next day, that lesbian, singer/songwriter legend, Cris Williamson was in the audience. (She played Sunday night) We went in to meet her and she was so kind and hilariously funny. We talked about the music business and had a great time, we didn't want to go!

GLBT Hall of Fame Induction Show

Hey Everyone!

It is official! On January 27, 2014, we were gratefully inducted in the GLBT Hall of Fame for "building the tribe of LGBTI Artists who are RightOutTV and for the impact RightOutTV has as a resource for the GLBT arts community and the community at large."

We were blown away by this incredible honour from the Stonewall Society and Len Rogers who created the GLBT Hall of Fame. Fellow LGBT artist and friend, Shawn Thomas created our introduction which got me very choked up...it was beautiful and generous and we are so thankful to him.

You can listen to the show and hear about the other inductees as well: GLBT Hall of Fame Show

Christmas Show for Charity

Nathalie has been very busy getting some wonderful talent together to produce the annual Mingle of the Jingles Variety Show fundraiser for people with developmental disabilities at the Kay Meek Theatre in West Vancouver.

This year I will be performing one song and  co-hosting  with Drag Artist, the Unstoppable Connie Smudge and I cannot wait to see what hilarity will ensue with that combo. Some of the self advocates (the people we raising money for) join the dance groups, there are performers of all ages and it is a great show for the whole family! Tickets are only $15:

Inducted into the GLBT Hall of Fame!

Hey Everyone

While on holidays, walking the gorgeous beaches of Tofino, B. C., we received some incredible news! Len Rogers from the Stonewall Society, informed us that we were being inducted into the GLBT Hall of Fame for our creation of RightOutTV. He wrote:

"Marlee Walchuk and Tully Callender were nominated by community peers and have been elected to membership in the GLBT Hall Of Fame based on;
Marlee Walchuk's and Tully Callender's creation and management of Right Out TV and the impact that resource and website have been to the GLBT arts community and community at large."
We were completely blown away and very moved. The induction will take place in December, 2013 and we'll keep you posted on when you can hear it.
Much love and thanks to everyone who voted us in!

Sugarbeach Music gets into Film and TV

It's very exciting for us when a film or TV music supervisor asks to license our songs. Recently we have had "Come On Out" picked up for the TV series, "Off the Beaten Palate" and "I Just Love Girls" made it into the new film, "Heterosexual Jill."

"Come On Out" has also been picked up for "Eating Out- The Long Weekend" on LOGO. A few weeks ago I also had a lot of fun narrating the documentary, "Working People" for the Knowledge Network. This is my second documentary, the first was "Wings and Dreams" that still pops up on TV on occasion.

Our first time in New York City and we played to a wonderful, brave and very wet crowd who came out to support the entertainers and speakers. Our high points were: Playing the Rally, and meeting other GLBT performers Partying with the Rally staff at the famed Stonewall Inn (where it all began) Going to Marga Gomez's closing party of her show "Long Island Iced Latina" - she is hysterical and so cool! Can't wait to get back there!
